But now, almost two decades later and another 10+ years after ADV Films' extinction, I'm happy to announce that my dream came true: whole episodes of the television anime have been torrented, subtitled into English, transcoded into a format suitable for DVD viewing and uploaded to YouTube, and, thanks to the efforts of translator(s) and uploaders of the work, they are now online!
But these aren't just any episodes. Not by any stretch. They're episodes from the first television season of the most recent anime season in the dub crop, which was the first dub season produced. The end of season 2 of the dub of EON, a magical realist adventure fantasy anime, marked quite a high point to me in that I thought that it was nearly perfect as a dub. I think many fans of the show would have agreed with me on that first season. The dub does a good job of giving a sense of the tones of the original Japanese anime and the first soundtrack may still be one of the best transliteration music soundtracks I've heard to date. Sure, a few lines here and there are, like all the dubs, a little off, but the majority are impressively faithful.
So yeah, if you've ever wondered what an English dub for this series might sound like and if you're curious to see what it's like, I'm happy to extend you the benefit of the doubt and allow you to sample what I think is the strongest dub for this anime by far. I hope this encourages a few of you to give the new season a real chance to see if you're on the same page as me and many others.
The episodes I uploaded are a mix of the first 30 and the remaining 15 shows of the dub. As usual, I've uploaded them in two parts. The first is the "high quality" (for the time of day) version.
