It was a great pleasure to assist my good friend with his 2018 ZLIN model, the most voted by the supporters of the project at http://www.indiegogo.com/projects/zlin . The model is based on the photos which we took together this spring and summer.
I would like to thank all who supported me and this project. And also i would like to thank my wife for always being supportive, my friends, who shared my enthusiasm, and all the people from the ZLIN forum, who inspired me to keep on building. Also thanks to Tom I and the crew of Great Planes. Thank you for the pleasure of building this beautiful model, and for your effort of building such a well-designed kit.
Aerobatic Aresti. A basic aerobatic figure is a movement of a single aircraft, generally upward in the standard plane of flight. It is not a combination of maneuvers and is flown in a single lift which is the most basic of all aerobatic maneuvers.
The project is inspired by an excellent 1/20th scale kit of a K65-A1 made by Zlin in their Czech Republic. The kit, although limited in parts (just 7 parts) is much better then any of the former K65 kits I’ve seen before. The kit is presented in color scheme of black, red and blue.
The Zlin comes nicely packaged in a very colorful box. Each component is individually wrapped to ensure no damage. I found myself impressed with the color scheme and overall quality of the model. Little things like the very nicely detailed cockpit gauge cluster, robust canopy attachment mechanism and the completeness of the hardware package caught my eye. As usual, the instruction manual is top notch and provides a VERY thorough build guide for either glow or electric power systems.
While the performance of this plane may not be quite on the level of the top of the line, ultra-fast, super expensive aerobatic planes it does not disappoint. It is quite easy to fly, even if it has slightly less power than some of the other planes on the market. The wingsuit is fairly well balanced and the stiff tail plane makes the plane feel like a true aerobatic plane that is not likely to flip over during a flight. I thought this plane would be the most difficult for me to set up, but it was quite straightforward and took less than an hour to completely set-up. Aside from the tail plane and landing gear, the plane only has two points of articulation. But that is all that is needed for a clean, agile aerobatic plane. 827ec27edc
