These five epics were written over a period of 5th to 10th century CE and act and provide historical information about the society, religions, culture and academic life of Tamil people over that period. Cīvaka Cintāmaṇi introduced long verses called virutha pa in Tamil literature, while Cilappatikāram used akaval meter (monologue), a style adopted from Sangam literature.Though NCBH's Tamil publication published the first Perumkaappiyam written by a Penpaar Pulavar in 2012, namely, Potruhil meaning golden cloth written by Sati alias Pramila Uppalapáti in her pen name Ann Ariel Wilson, which was released over Tamilan TV, the books were taken back and destroyed by the author as she re-converted to Hinduism as mentioned in official website of the author. However a Hindu version was released in 2018 along with free distribution of two other Perumkaappiyams written by the author, namely Manjari Purana and Sivanin Sati Purana with English Translation directly through the website for free downloads and Amazon unfortunately as per social media posts of the author there are threats to the author in taking the free e-books to the general public as some political leaders think it will give authority to the person who will release them to the public. These hurdles keep Tamil's sixth, seventh and eighth Perumkaappiyams hidden from the general public and they became VIP literature, henceforth ascertaining the name Aimperumkaappiyams.Owing to the increase of number in Perumkaappiyams due to Pramila Uppalapáti's Sangam Tamil Perumkaappiyams, tamilvu.org, the official website library of the Government of Tamilnadu have taken off the term Aimperumkaappiyams and named them just as Perumkaappiyams.
