The Assassin is an elemental force of a movie, contrasting the swirling expanses of nature with the unrelenting labyrinthine dangers of society in 7th Century China. Directed by Hsiao-Hsien Hou, foreboding drum beats diverge from an overwhelming soundscape of birdsong, aurally tackling the mindset of an assassin and the surrounding realm in which she is enclosed. It's so goddamn pretty too. Easily one of the most accomplished films that I've seen image-to-image. Starting with a B&W prologue, Hou crafts scenery out of kaleidoscopic globes, obscuring simple, basic images with sudden beams of light and the drive of a vengeful breeze, swelling the tight limitations of the Academy Ratio into a painterly canvas of dread and eventual violence.
wuxia is typically a genre that seeks to question and heal china's historical wounds, the assassin wants to open the wound up completely and shatter our reactionary assumptions. paradoxically with what would expect of hou's cinematography of stillness, this is a film primarily concerned with motion towards an unseen climax: the combat & choreography is always being drawn into an ambiguous horizon, past the shade of a garden, in the entangled vines of a forest, echoes of candlelight flickering in the breeze, a pitch black figure standing within a world of airy colors.
Less than an hour earlier, police had arrested Lee Harvey Oswald, a recently hired employee at the Texas School Book Depository. He was being held for the assassination of President Kennedy and the fatal shooting, shortly afterward, of Patrolman J. D. Tippit on a Dallas street.
On November 29, 1963 President Lyndon B. Johnson appointed the President's Commission on the Assassination of President Kennedy. It came to be known as the Warren Commission after its chairman, Earl Warren, Chief Justice of the United States. President Johnson directed the commission to evaluate matters relating to the assassination and the subsequent killing of the alleged assassin, and to report its findings and conclusions to him.
The US House of Representatives established the House Select Committee on Assassinations in 1976 to reopen the investigation of the assassination in light of allegations that previous inquiries had not received the full cooperation of federal agencies.
Through the President John F. Kennedy Assassination Records Collection Act of 1992, the US Congress ordered that all assassination-related material be housed together under supervision of the National Archives and Records Administration.
Kiryu ran into the assassin from his stint in prison once more, who was left behind by the Nikkyo Consortium following his failure to kill Kiryu, forcing him to serve out his sentence. Blaming Kiryu for this, he attacked him and is swiftly defeated. After Kiryu beat the former inmate, he demanded to know whether Sera actually ordered the hit on him, which the assassin admits was not true, confirming that it was Kunieda, the president of the Consortium, who had sent him. Knowing that the Consortium was a secretive group, Kiryu resolved to go to Purgatory to ask the Florist of Sai about Kunieda. On the way to the Florist's castle, however, he is accosted by a man, who reveals himself to be Kunieda himself. Following Kiryu's request for more information, Kunieda told him that he would learn the truth following the two of them fighting.Once Kiryu defeated him and the other Consortium members who joined him, Kunieda stated that he only sent the assassin on Sera's orders. Confused, Kiryu requested to know more, to which Kunieda told him that Sera was attempting to dissuade other groups from attacking Kiryu. If the Tojo visibly sent an assassin after Kiryu, then others would know not to attack him, for fear of angering the Clan. After providing this information, Kunieda wished Kiryu well and left.

Szeth, (also known as Szeth-son-son-Vallano and Szeth-son-Neturo, after his predecessors, and the Assassin in White), Truthless of Shinovar is a Surgebinder and an assassin.
His first bout as the Assassin in White is when he is ordered by the Parshendi to assassinate King Gavilar, though assassinate may not be the exact word. For some reason, the \"assassination\" was to be carried out with maximum casualties. He puzzles over why the Parshendi would break their treaty, but decides it is not his place to ask. It is here that the first mentions of Surgebinding are shown. He kills dozens of Kholinar soldiers with his Blade and Surgebindings, cutting through ranks until he confronts a man in a full suit of Shardplate that summons his Blade to buy time for the king to escape with his attendants. As this Shardbearer engages Szeth, the king leaves the palace. Szeth uses careful Lashings,[12] and considers allowing the Shardbearer to kill him before honoring his code to not allow himself to disobey orders. After shattering a section of the sternum, Szeth leaves the wounded Shardbearer to chase the king, but stops upon realizing that the man that had fled was only a decoy. Making his decision, Szeth charges the Shardbearer, who engages him again. The Shardbearer - revealed to be Gavilar - nearly defeats Szeth by breaking his skull after allowing Szeth's Blade to strike him, but Szeth tricks him out onto the balcony and makes it collapse with a Full Lashing. As Gavilar lay at the bottom of the palace dying, Szeth reveals who his masters were and records Gavilar's final words using the king's blood. He leaves both the body and the message behind.[9]
Szeth returns to Taravangian with his concerns, and Taravangian, in his fear of being killed, lies to him, claiming that an Honorblade of Regrowth has been stolen from Shinovar, and that he must be the current wielder. This is enough to persuade Szeth to return to the Shattered Plains to complete his assignment of assassinating Dalinar.[13]
THE PRECEDING chapter has established that the bullets which killed President Kennedy and wounded Governor Connally were fired from the southeast corner window of the sixth floor of the Texas School Book Depository Building and that the weapon which fired these bullets was a Mannlicher-Carcano 6.5-millimeter Italian rifle bearing the serial number C2766. In this chapter the Commission evaluates the evidence upon which it has based its conclusion concerning the identity of the assassin. This evidence includes (1) the ownership and possession of the weapon used to commit the assassination, (2) the means by which the weapon was brought into the Depository Building, (3) the identity of the person present at the window from which the shots were fired, (4) the killing of Dallas Patrolman J. D. Tippit within 45 minutes after the assassination, (5) the resistance to arrest and the attempted shooting of another police officer by the man (Lee Harvey Oswald) subsequently accused of assassinating President Kennedy and killing Patrolman Tippit, (6) the lies told to the police by Oswald, (7) the evidence linking Oswald to the attempted killing of Maj. Gen. Edwin A. Walker (Resigned, U.S. Army) on April 10, 1963, and (8) Oswald's capability with a rifle.
Assassin bugs (Hemiptera: Heteroptera: Reduviidae) are venomous insects, most of which prey on invertebrates. Assassin bug venom has features in common with venoms from other animals, such as paralyzing and lethal activity when injected, and a molecular composition that includes disulfide-rich peptide neurotoxins. Uniquely, this venom also has strong liquefying activity that has been hypothesized to facilitate feeding through the narrow channel of the proboscis-a structure inherited from sap- and phloem-feeding phytophagous hemipterans and adapted during the evolution of Heteroptera into a fang and feeding structure. However, further understanding of the function of assassin bug venom is impeded by the lack of proteomic studies detailing its molecular composition.By using a combined transcriptomic/proteomic approach, we show that the venom proteome of the harpactorine assassin bug Pristhesancus plagipennis includes a complex suite of >100 proteins comprising disulfide-rich peptides, CUB domain proteins, cystatins, putative cytolytic toxins, triabin-like protein, odorant-binding protein, S1 proteases, catabolic enzymes, putative nutrient-binding proteins, plus eight families of proteins without homology to characterized proteins. S1 proteases, CUB domain proteins, putative cytolytic toxins, and other novel proteins in the 10-16-kDa mass range, were the most abundant venom components. Thus, in addition to putative neurotoxins, assassin bug venom includes a high proportion of enzymatic and cytolytic venom components likely to be well suited to tissue liquefaction. Our results also provide insight into the trophic switch to blood-feeding by the kissing bugs (Reduviidae: Triatominae). Although some protein families such as triabins occur in the venoms of both predaceous and blood-feeding reduviids, the composition of venoms produced by these two groups is revealed to differ markedly. These results provide insights into the venom evolution in the insect suborder Heteroptera. 153554b96e
